Standards, Assessment and Instruction (SAI) Leadership Team Meeting
- May 19, 2015
Los Angeles, CA
This CORE Alliance event emphasized access and equity issues with a focus on implementation of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for students with disabilities and other learning differences, particularly in the area of language arts. The main presenter described the linguistic needs of second language learners and students with language differences and how to design and implement Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and the three principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to address those needs. Following the research and implementation presentation, time was devoted to discussion and reflection in district teams and then whole group discussion with Kevin Schaefer to answer final questions and learn from other districts' experience.
The primary audience for this event was the members of the Standards, Assessment and Instruction (SAI) Team for the CORE Districts. School district senior leaders compose the SAI Team and identify the appropriate individuals to participate in SAI Team meetings. Approximately 35-40 people regularly participate in SAI Team meetings.
