As the Event Coordinator for Regional Educational Laboratory West (REL West), Laura Buckner is responsible for the planning and implementation of online webinars and in-person events related to emerging REL West research and tools.
Prior to joining the REL West team, Buckner was an intern with WestEd's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Program. While there, she contributed to several research studies and gained insight into WestEd's rigorous research processes. She also assisted with writing and editing proposals, reports, and program materials.
Buckner brings with her a background in nonprofit program and event coordination experience, including spearheading an annual conference of over 200 delegates with the Center for Socially Responsible Business at Mills College. Additionally, she has served as a volunteer coordinator for the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival and as program coordinator for Tahoe SAFE Alliance's violence prevention program, which partnered extensively with schools and community-based organizations. Buckner is also a AmeriCorps alum, having served with the Boys and Girls Club as an after-school education specialist.
Buckner holds a joint MBA and MA in Education Leadership degree from Mills College in Oakland, California.
