Program Assistant II
Malachy McCormick is a Program Assistant II in the Regional Educational Laboratory West (REL West). He is responsible for strategic project coordination and tracking, public outreach project management, website maintenance, document control management, and other operational activities within the REL.
McCormick came to WestEd in 2014 after spending two years as a Project Office Manager and Document Controller for Shimmick Construction Co., Inc., a civil engineering and construction firm responsible for the seismic retrofit of the Golden Gate Bridge. There, McCormick coordinated operational and administrative activities of the project including contract compliance, HR procedures, financial processes, document control activities, and served as the liaison between Shimmick and the government agency overseeing the project.
McCormick has also worked in the non-profit and international development sector, serving as an administrative assistant for St. John's Program for Real Change, a homeless rehabilitation program in Sacramento, CA; program assistant for La Fundación Paraguaya de Cooperación y Desarrollo, a youth development and education NGO in Asunción, Paraguay; and project coordinator for Ties to the World, a youth development NGO in Mixco, Guatemala.
McCormick studied International Relations and Global Studies, and Spanish literature, at University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.
